After being launched globally on September 21, the much-awaited Apple’s iPhone 5 launched in Indian market on Friday on November 2, 2012. The latest version of Apple Inc.’s iconic iPhone will be now available in retail stores across India.
Apple iPhone 5 is launched at promotional events in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bangalore. The company has partnered with distribution masters Redington and Ingram Micro, which revealed the launch date for the phone last week, to retail the device across India.
Apple iPhone 5 has been priced at Rs.45,500 for the 16GB model, Rs.52,500 for the 32GB model and Rs.59,500 for the 64GB model.
The device is featuring a larger 4-inch screen and a much more powerful A6 processor, the iPhone 5 is a major step up from the iPhone 4S.
The phone is now incredibly slim with a thickness of just 7.6mm. The svelte smartphone is also remarkably light weighing just 112gms.
The new phone is built on A6 chip, which Apple says, is up to twice as fast compared with the A5 chip that were available in previous version of phone.
“Response is very good. Our first stock is already booked, still we are getting bookings,” said Vikas Malhotra, store manager at iWorld.
Although Apple’s products are not as popular in India compared to western countries, the brand is steadily gaining traction among affluent professionals who don’t mind paying a premium for the iconic products. In a change from previous years, the iPhone will be available in retail stores and not just through Apple’s carrier partners.
