It is known from rumors, US fabulous Apple is working on a smaller version of iPad tablet that will launch in the third quarter 2012 in addition to a new iPad tablet.
The sources also said “Global shipments of tablet PCs are expected to reach 60 million units in 2011, of which 70% will be Apple’s iPads. To cash in on market demand as well as market expectations, Apple is expected to release its next-generation iPads at the end first-quarter 2012”.
DigiTimes on Friday Dec. 16, 2011 said that a new Apple iPad with a 7.85″ display will enter in production at the end of the second quarter. According to the site’s report, the panels will be supplied by LG Display and AU Optronics.
The sources also indicated that, in order to cope with increasing market competition including the 7″ Kindle Fire from Amazon and the launch of large-size smartphones from handset vendors, Apple has been diversified into the development of 7.85″ iPads tablet at the end of the second quarter of 2012.
Earlier reports from Ticonderoga Securities analyst Brian White suggested that Apple would launch an “iPad mini” in 2012, but that mini referred to a lower price in the high-$200 range rather than a smaller form factor.
