Have you ever think that you can control airplanes with your iPhone? Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed a prototype application which allows someone to fly an aircraft from an iPhone. Flying unmanned drone plane requires a skilled operator and a lot of equipment and operator needs almost 150+ hours to learn for flying drone plane but with the help of iPhone App anyone can fly drone aircraft and it takes only 5 minutes for learning. It just like you are playing game on your iPhone, if you move your iPhone to left the aircraft moves in the left and if you move the iPhone to right, the aircraft moves in the right side.
Engineers at MIT also tested this iPhone App and control the aircraft which was located at the MIT campus, in Cambridge, more than 4,023 kilometers (2,500 miles) away. This new control system was developed by a team led by MIT associate professor of aeronautics and astronautics Mary Cummings, who is also the director of the Humans and Automation Lab at the institute. Her goal is to develop easy-to-use, simple control systems.
With the help of iPhone App not only unmanned drone aircraft but also jumbo jets can control as the basic principles of flight are the same regardless of aircraft size. However, it may be some time before we see such a system control even cargo aircraft.
